      Description

The HYGEIA series of hygienic diaphragm seals, produced by PCI in the United Kingdom, are engineered to the highest manufacturing standards. These seals are specifically designed for applications within the food processing and pharmaceutical industries, where stringent hygiene requirements are paramount.

The primary function of a diaphragm seal is to isolate the pressure-sensing instrument from the process medium, thereby protecting the instrument from potential contamination or damage. Typically, diaphragm seals are mounted directly onto the measuring device; however, remote installation via a capillary tube is also possible.

The cavity behind the diaphragm and within the pressure instrument is filled with a specialised fluid that serves as a hydraulic transmission medium. When process pressure is exerted on the diaphragm, the resulting displacement of the fill fluid transmits the pressure to the instrument’s sensing element. This configuration enables accurate pressure measurement while preventing direct exposure of the sensing element to the process medium.
